Inventor Inspiration
“I wanted to create a vehicle safety system to ensure the driver always wears a seatbelt, so I invented this. My design would provide added safety, protection, and peace of mind.”
Features
- This invention would consist of electrical and mechanical components that link the driver’s seatbelt buckle to the ignition system of the vehicle
- The driver’s seatbelt buckle will be wired to the car’s CPU to determine status
- If the driver attempted to start the engine without the belt buckled, this sensor system would recognize the danger and keep the engine turned off
- Only after buckling up could the engine be started and the vehicle driven
- This concealed and tamperproof system would be ideally suited for new production vehicles as standard equipment
- It might also be retrofitted into aftermarket automobiles and light trucks as a significant safety upgrade
